terminology |
| Control Panel ::
where it all happens. Once logged in to
your site, the Control Panel provides access to
the tools necessary for creating and modifying
the entire web site: pages, links, menus, user
IDs, etc. |
| Site Content ::
the most useful Control Panel category.
It is where most of your work will take place,
as it is where all site modules are located. |
| Administration
:: another critical category featured in the Control
Panel, for it is here that you can customize the
site layout, as well as manage site users. |
| Modules :: page
components with unique functions, such as Calendar
for posting events or Menu for creating site navigation.
When assembled, they form the foundation of your
web site. Specific modules are defined at
right. |

Web
Pages ::
create and edit web pages for
your site, including your home
page, using PageMaster, now called
Web Pages. |
Menu
Manager ::
used to create menus (a list of
links), thereby enabling visitors
to navigate your site.

Block
Maker
:: one of the most basic components
of a web site. Blocks are used
for placing small amounts of content
on your site. |
Calendar
:: post
events in calendar format, displayed
on your site in Daily, Weekly,
and Monthly views. Also includes
a small view which allows users
to see what is coming up within
the next few days.

Announcements
:: allows
visitors, registered users and
site administrators to post important
news or announcements on the main
page, including future announcements
that automatically post on their
specified date. |

Give your site a title
::
Log in, click Control Panel then Administration
Click the Layout Admin module
Under Layout Settings, give your page a title
While you're there, define and add metatags, if
you'd like. For instance, keywords act as
an additional source of information to better
assist search engines in locating your site and
Description offers a short description of your
site should it be listed in the results of a search
engine search. |
Create a page ::

Log in, click Control Panel then Site Content
Click the Web Pages module
Click New Page
Give the page a name (no need to alter the remaining
default settings) and click Go
A blank editor page will open, where you can add
page text and images |
Edit an existing page

Follow the steps above to get into the Web Pages
module, find the page you want and click Edit
Even quicker, log in and browse to the page
you wish to edit - not through the Control Panel,
but as though you're a visitor to the site -
then click Edit This Page

Create a menu ::

Log in, click Control Panel then Site Content
Click the Menu Manager module
Click New Menu
Give the menu a name (no need to alter the remaining
default settings) and click Save New Menu |
Add an item to a menu

Follow the steps above to get into the Menu
Manager module, find the menu you want and click
Edit
Click Add Menu Item
Give the menu item a title and choose the page
to which it should link, using the Internal
Web Page drop down menu. No need make
other changes, unless:

The page needs to open in a new window: Choose
New Window from the Display drop down menu
The menu item is a sub-category of another
menu item: select Add Under for the correct
menu title

Add calendar events

Log in, click Control Panel then Site Content
Click the Calendar module
Give your event a Title and Description, and designate
the Event Type, Time and Date
C lick Create Event |
If your event repeats itself, check the Repeat
Event Until and choose the Mode and Property
If you want your event to show up on the main
page as an Announcement, select Post Event
As An Announcement and select the Date

Edit calendar events

Log in and click the month - ie, October - on
the calendar on the main page to access the Calendar
module
Click the event you want to edit
Click Edit and make your changes
Click Update Event |
Change the overall site
theme ::
Log in, click Control Panel then Administration
Click the Layout Admin module
In box at top of page, select a theme from the
drop down menu then click Set Default Theme |
Arrange the placement
of modules on a page ::
Log in, click Control Panel then Administration
Click the Layout Admin module
In Move Boxes, select On
Navigate to the page you want to modify then use
the up/down/side arrows of each module to move
it ... wherever! |
